Benchmarks Phoronix, known for their various speed tests and reviews, compared the latest in Ubuntu and what, until recently, used to be the lastest in Mac OS X with 29 different benchmarking tests. Some of the results were rather interesting.

See, that's the thing. Just because you close the one window you have doesn't mean you're done with the application, and that's the assumption many Windows and Linux applications seem to make.

Instead of hitting the X, why not hitting the _ (Score) and minimize the app to the taskbar? Or put it on a separate desktop and pull it back when needed again?
