Linux We already discussed David Finch, Dell's senior product marketing manager for Linux clients, last week. We missed, however, some more interesting statements by Finch; Dell is looking into the ARM-based netbook smartbook market, and close to a third of all of Dell's netbooks ship with Linux.

I'm eagerly awaiting affordable standard size equivalent write lifespan SSD. I'd like nothing more than to rip the hot platter drivers out of my rig and drop in some nice cool and stinking fast SSDs. Wear leveling helps but it still feels like a short lifespan component which doesn't justify the cost differences yet. Even in business machines where the cost is not out of my pocket directly, I'm not ready to accept a limited lifespan in return for the lighter notebooks and slightly faster access times.

This is likely completely off topic as I mean SSD on the SATA bus in general. They are getting closer though.
