General Development Mark Mitchell announced the availability of GCC 4.0.2. He explains, "this release is a minor release, containing primarily fixes for regressions in GCC 4.0.1 relative to previous releases."

You need to clarify the "waiting for f77 and f2c
stuff to be working again." Mainline gfortran,
which will be in 4.1.0, compiles the NIST F77
testsuite without a problem along with numerous
other standard Fortran 77 codes. The code freeze
to stablize 4.0.2 prevented some of the needed
patches from being included in 4.0.2. The 4.0.x
branch is now open for commits, and the gfortran
developers are started to back port the patches.

I have no idea what you mean about "and f2c
stuff".
