We reported earlier on a blog post entitled "Ubuntu Report Card (2009)" where the author detailed how they felt the Ubuntu experience had improved over the years. So your point is that the fact that you have to use some console commands to take advantage of a feature that Windows just lacks turns out to mean that the OS is a failure.
If you don't need/want to export X, use remote desktop. There, problem solved.
