Right, Linux/BSDs have what 2% of the desktop market. Yeah, real huge numbers there...
The costs of developing a top of the line CPU or GPU are staggering. Certainly a very low single digit of the overall market is not the main hopes for survival of any vendor trying to stay in business.

imho AMD is totally irrelevant.
Until NVIDIA hw has good open source drivers then there is a large market for AMD (and Intel). I try my best to stay away from anything NVIDIA, especially GPUs.
