First, this is a chick who likes hacking on hardware. 500 points and a chubby to her right off the bat.
Second, useability is not the goal here. It's something that was possible to do, so she did it. Nobody said she was building nanobots over here. If you don't dig this kind of thing, WTF are you doing here?
Third, ask RMS, Linus, ESR or damn near any geek how useful general hacking around with stuff can be. I for one remember when the linux kernel was dismissed out of hand for it's immaturity and impracticality. A big STFU from all of them to all of you who feel there's "nothing to see here..."
