Gentoo I've been wanting to try Gentoo for some time, but always had to roll my eyes at the pages and pages of installation instructions. This time, however, I rolled up my sleeves and buckled down. Minutes later, I was on my way.

tryed gentoo about 2 years ago, then after a period of 1 year i blowed my laptop (graphic chip gone), then i installed slack, it was 9.2, it was pretty smooth, all were up to me, but i've managed to get things done.
after this period, about 5 months ago, i tryed gentoo again, 'cause the flavoured kernels, a tool for controlling the majors of programs, but it dosen't suite my needs well.
some programs are not up to date (rhythmbox), the portage is quite slow, and rebuilding for a -r? sounds quite silly to me.
now i'll go bak to slack for my laptop (a new one), or i'll try a rpm based distro.
i don't like gentoo, a waste of time for a minimum gain.

on the other hand there r some nice projects in the gentoo community, like initng or splashfb, but i prefer to port them in another distro then living with portage
