Apple A whole lot of Apple news of course, but we've never really done music players or streaming devices, so let's skip the barrage of new iPods and the new Apple TV (streaming-only? Fail). The real meat is of course iOS 4.1 and 4.2, both of which were detailed during today's press event.

RE[3]: New Apple TV bad for music

A backup is a duplication, nothing more. Just because it’s on a backup drive, it doesn’t make it any more legitimate and safe than the same copy on my laptop. (Any hard disk can ’asplode and a backup drive is as likely to asplode as the one in the computer).

My point is why does iTunes have to be open on a computer for this to work. The same content is on the backup and Apple TV could get it there, computer off.

A backup is there to be restored should the worst happen. What you want is a mirror, not a backup.

If I were to use a backup at work for live use I would get a Real telling off.
