Yeah, I'll admit I did compromise a bit on principle. Cost ( lack of subsidy from US carriers), Hardware ( restive screen, weak processor), and future of the platform ( one device only)? Kept me away. Android is the next best thing.
If Meego were to blow up, I'd switch when practical, but I'm not convinced it has a future either.

There are some of us here, who would call ourselves "hackers". We like writing operating systems and applications. We are going to want a device that allows us to do that.
You're probably better off not buying an Android phone then either. Sounds like you'd be happier with Maemo or the like.
