Ubuntu 11.04 Beta Released

released the first beta for Ubuntu 11.04
. This si the first release where Unity is the default desktop environment. All the official Ubuntu derivatives have also bee beta'd.

Unity has placed the panel at the top of BOTH screens. From a usability standpoint, it should only be on the primary.

At work I have a laptop, a Linux desktop, a Sun workstation, and a Windows desktop connected to various ports on two monitors of healthy size. The (RHEL) Linux box can use either or both monitors, depending on which other computer(s) I'm using at the time. I love the presence of a menu and task bar on both screens, since I can easily use RHEL in any monitor configuration.
I haven't found a way for Windows or Solaris to do this, but I may be insufficiently clever, of course.
