Only two players for GPUs? I wonder what these should be ...
I guess you meant just AMD and Nvidia, though you are totally wrong on that. There are a lot more players and some major like Intel.
And yeah the "crappy" Intel GPUs are good enough to accelarate videos.
Btw. Gallium3D is cross plattform, so not just Linux.
