I think the main points recently are 680x0 Amiga support (getting close to no longer needing the original Amiga roms), and wireless network support. The second point is probably more important to many people, but the first means being able to run legacy apps and games under emulation without copyrighted rom images.

Indeed, improving 68K support IS good news as it means that, when combined with an integrated emulator, AROS should someday be able to run legacy apps just like OS 4 and Morphos...
