Legal Blah blah Apple whines about a bunch of software patents again. Go cry in a corner, Jobs. Either find a strategy that counters the rise of Android, or just suck it up and be a man about it. Oh, HTC is the target this time around. Again. Whatever.

when they launched on Android they quickly found that Android users were more reluctant to part with their cash than iOS users hence it necessitated the need for a free version.

I think you're wrong about that (although I stand to be corrected). I believe that Angry Birds was free on Android from launch. Also, according to Wikipedia, Rovio are raking in over US$1 million in advertising revenue per month from the Android version. It's quite possible that they're making much more money by giving it away for free than they ever would by trying to sell it.
