For big corporation there is always a strong temptation to behave like a big street gang, suppressing competitors with robbery and bribes.
It happens in small businesses too, especially ones that compete directly with one another. Corporations are in fact bound by far more stringent laws than small business in most countries and are subject to a much higher degree of scrutiny.
Make no mistake, your preferred "Mom 'n Pop" cornerstore would fight tooth and nail to protect their business from a competitor that opened in their neighbourhood. It's their livelihood, and people have always fought for their livelihoods in whatever way they are permitted or can get away with.

'Conspiracy' is a very popular straw man argument word. Modern people are too selfish and stupid for conspiracies, or are they? Recent events in Egypt and Lybia cast some doubts on that.
it's hard to deny, that there is a lot of "The Godfather" style collusions or simple market divisions in corporate America.
