We had Phillips P2000 computers in school, later to be joined by 2 PCs.
Most people had Commodore 64s, the gurus had a Commodore 128. Later those people upgraded to Amiga's.
A few had a ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, MSX and one even had an Acorn Electron (excellent computer).
The only people that had a PC at home were the ones who got it from their employer so they could do stuff at home (and bring the results to work on a 1.44 MB floppy).
But I was a kid, mostly interested in games and PCs sucked for that.

I guess it all depends how geek we were as children.
I had mostly contact with ZX Spectrum family, Sam Coupe and Amiga.
But there were a few Macs and PCs around as well that we could access on our high school.
The PCs were Amstrad PC 1512 that we used to play "Defender of the Crown".
It was also not uncommon to see some Schneider Euro PC II on sale.
