PDAs, Cellphones, Wireless In the US wireless market, AT&T is currently attempting to buy T-Mobile to create one heck of a behemoth wireless provider. While earlier this week the US government already filed a lawsuit to block the merger, citing antitrust concerns, US carrier Sprint has now also filed a lawsuit to block the merger.

I find it amazing that the large American wireless market only has four nationwide players.

There are virtual network operators in addition to the big ones, aren't there? The network owners compete on network coverage, signal quality and price, while the virtual operators compete mostly on price, making sure there is a significant market for the end user. Having more than a handful redundant networks does not really sound necessary as long as the market regulation ensures virtual operators can exist as well.
