Big news from Capitol Hill in Washington DC today: House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa has said that the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) has been "shelved" in the House of Representatives, meaning it has been put on indefinite hold until a consensus about the act can be reached. Sadly, SOPA's counterpart in the Senate, the Protect IP Act (PIPA) will still be pushed forward, meaning we must remain vigilant. Despite all of this, Wikipedia has announced it will join the blackout coming Wednesday.

Yeah, the basic tactic politicians now employ is: wait until after the Presidential elections, hope someone is elected who won't veto SOPA.
But SOPA is far from dead. Being shelved is just being paused.
You still ought to continue to write angry letters to your congressperson.

The Tizen Greek Community has some screenshots of a very recent build of Tizen running on a Samsung GT-i8800. It looks wholly unremarkable.

Joint statement to The Next Web from Microsoft and Google: "Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube's API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time." Good to know these children stopped acting like little pricks. Can we have full Google support in Windows 8 now, please?

Yahoo is acquiring Tumblr, the microblogging and social networking website, for $1.1 billion USD. Tumblr offers little revenue but lots of eyeballs if Yahoo can monetarize them. Now Yahoo is bidding for Hulu, the streaming video service. After years of ineffective responses while Google, Facebook, and others took large chunks of the online advertising market, Yahoo is fighting back. Can Yahoo reignite the momentum it had at the turn of the century? What do you think?

"Sony gave the PS4 50% more raw shader performance, plain and simple (768 SPs @ 800MHz vs. 1152 SPs & 800MHz). Unlike last generation, you don't need to be some sort of Jedi to extract the PS4's potential here. The Xbox One and PS4 architectures are quite similar, Sony just has more hardware under the hood. Weâll have to wait and see how this hardware delta gets exposed in games over time, but the gap is definitely there. The funny thing about game consoles is that itâs usually the lowest common denominator that determines the bulk of the experience across all platforms. Not to mention we've seen this tactic before, where they "shelf' a bill until the heat dies down and then ram it through on a weekend when they think nobody will notice. The *.A.A has bribed a LOT of politicians to get this junk rammed through and they won't give up that easily.
Personally I think We, The People should completely ignore ALL copyright laws until We, The People actually get a seat at the table again. When most of Walt Disney's works are STILL under copyright, even though the man has been dead for longer than many of us have been alive, i think "promoting the useful arts and sciences" is no longer being served. It is pretty obvious when you are talking about the level of bribery we are seeing thanks to Citizens united that voting simply won't help so we need to not only remain vigilant and complain we also need to let our elected officials know we simply won't follow unjust laws rammed through with bribes and any cases brought using these unjust laws we will use jury nullification to voice our displeasure.
if anything thanks to the Internet times should be SHORTER, say 10 years with a one time extension upon payment for another 10 years, but what we have now is "forever minus a single day" which is locking up our entire culture behind a paywall and we shouldn't stand for it!
