Mandriva, Mandrake, Lycoris A controversy surrounding Lycoris (which got acquired by Mandriva) is brewing. Apparently, Rus Bayne, ex-vice president of sales at Lycoris, is trying to start up a new distribution-- but allegedly "ripping off" Lycoris along the way. Read the thread on Lycoris' community site and judge for yourself.

I'm certainly no GPL fanatic, but I do believe that if someone chooses to use code that is licensed under the GPL that they should do so with the intent of releasing the source as soon as binaries are distributed.

Despite Rus's deceits, possible motivations, and attitude, he does have a valid point regarding the release of the source code.
