Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu "Mark Shuttleworth has announced at the OpenStack conference that Canonical has received a ringing endorsement from HP in the form of certification for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on the ProLiant server systems. Good. However, it is unclear what version gets certification ... I suppose it's Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server version, not desktop.

In which universe do you think HP[1] would certify the desktop edition for a server, and not the server version?

it's probably centers around the user land and apps available to the server version of Ubuntu as well as the kernel (in this case the single kernel).
