Great article, it articulated something I intuitively realized for a while but couldn't quite put my finger on. Consistency in UI is important for ease of use and minimizing learning. Too bad so few understand that anymore. I think it's partially because of the nature of the App Store, and partially because so many young developers want to write an app to get rich before they've matured in computer science (they have no sense you actually have to learn something before becoming the next famous hacker lionized by the media).
