That's because the vast majority of iphones can and do run the latest iOS. This is one reason why I purchase the iPhone, Its capabilities grow with each iOS update. the Android phone you buy today is the same phone you will have two years down the road with few exceptions.
this does not even touch the malware issue which is another reason why I purchase iPhones for my family. While it is not imumne, it is _much_ less likely to become infected.
