I'm just pointing out that your statement is factually incorrect. You can export your data from Google Drive and Dropbox as well, there's nothing particularly open to Microsoft's solution here. Also, although you can download your data, it's still impractical, thus a lock-in (lock-in was always just that, and never about cryptographically signed proprietary formats cryogenically frozen in the dark pits of hell). The cloud is about storing your stuff so that you will keep using the tools that make such storage practical. You didn't seriously believe it was charity, did you?
Sure you can, and I never said it was exclusive to Microsoft. Just offered by them. Remember, my original comment was in response to a "WP8 requires proprietary syncing" which is not true.
And I dont see what's so difficult ? Mind elaborating? I just checked and I didn't find it inconvenient at all.

You are free to export your data, as I've done. You can't just ignore the fact that features exist because it doesn't fit your narrative.
