PPCNux (German) as well as Pegasos-Forum (German) report about new information about Genesi's new G5 based mainboard. The mainboard which will feature the PowerPC 970MP CPU will have the new microBTX format (26.4x26.7cm/10.4"x10.5"). As system controller IBM's 945 northbridge was chosen which is the corresponding version of the current PowerMac's system controller. ATI will provide the graphics chipset for the new mainboard. It is currently not known which product name the mainboard will have. In addition, Mupper 1.0 has been released.

I read that they compliment Apple and Steve Jobs specifically (they certainly did in the prvious iPod blog). I think you are missing the point. The SIM in a mobile is the same chip as a smart card and they are suggesting the as broadband networks become more common and available - anywhere - that the mobile industry in in trouble. That is if Apple can make the jump to an internet supported video "skype" phone who needs a mobille. I think they are being very complimentary of Apple. Also, if I am not mistaken Genesi is self-funded (according to their website). I bet they neither want or need VC funding.

Official Apple statement on PRISM and privacy: "Regardless of the circumstances, our Legal team conducts an evaluation of each request and, only if appropriate, we retrieve and deliver the narrowest possible set of information to the authorities. In fact, from time to time when we see inconsistencies or inaccuracies in a request, we will refuse to fulfill it." This is basically Apple re-publishing their earlier statement in a more official manner. You either believe it, or you don't.

The open source Contiki operating system and its commercial Thingsquare distribution are making strides towards the connected home. According to a Computerworld article, a new LED light bulb manufacturer is putting small computers into their light bulbs. Each computer runs the Contiki OS, which gives each bulb an IP address and allows them to be controlled with a smartphone application. To connect the bulbs to the application, the bulbs use both Wi-Fi and the much lower power IEEE 802.15.4 mesh technology.

Fully and utterly agreed. My Nexus 7 was blazing-fast and awesome for a few months, and at some point, it just started sucking. Just like that. I've tried loads of ROMs, and nothing helps.

Not that I had any choice because when you sell a company you don't get to decide that. Obviously, the board and shareholders decide that. That iPod rant reminds me of a Steve Jobs quote I just read today: "...but you've got to be sure it's not a technology in search of a problem."
Then again it never really seemed like BBRV had much of an idea of where markets were actually going. Set top boxes? PDA portals? SmartCards? Nu-uh. Try again. And again. And again.
That's why Jobs is a billionaire at 50 while BBRV will still be making snide comments and trying to out-Jobs Steve Jobs ten years from now - that is if he can still find the venture capital. Sooner or later too many bridges will be burnt.
At least it's a case of "the more the merrier" when it comes to the ppc platform.
