Debian and its clones "The Debian Weekly News for October 25th, 2005 discusses the upcoming graphical frontend to the debian-installer as part of the most recent minutes of the monthly Debian Installer team meeting. This isn't meant to replace the current text-based interface, but it will be there as an alternative.

The main advantage that the graphical interface has is the improved ability to show various non-latin scripts. Other than that, it isn't much different. E.g. the partitioning could use some improvements: http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=486&slide=1...
