Not to get all political, but this demonstrates one of the reasons I was happy that Obama won the second term: He is probably the first president who actually understands and respects technology. He's no saint to the digital world, that's for sure, but perhaps he'll be the first in a line of presidents who actually understand why the laws need to change to keep up with technological advances.

The Obama campaign used Ubuntu for the PCs in their office - and they were able to use a single PC running Ubuntu and six thin clients velcroed to the backs of monitors rather than seven full PCs running Linux or Windows, in my office alone. They themed it up to look like Win7, but had it locked down tighter than a nun's asshole, so they were essentially idiot-proof internet terminals to access the campaign's private web apps.
