Very good article! I've always been pro-flat and anti-all-kinds-of-3d-effects when it comes to UI design, since I started using computers (Win98). Nicest looking interface I have seen in any program, on any platform, is in 'Ableton Live' ( http://www.ableton.com/en/live/ ). I'd like to replicate THAT look'n'feel systemwide... Well, my current toolkit theme on Linux desktop (QtCurve) is quite close...
