But what does that have to do with rolling releases? What does that have to do with display servers like Mir, Wayland, and x11? The technical details of all of the above is not relevant to the novice which isn't going to know which technologies are in play. The details are invisible to them as they should be.
Being right about elitism=bullying=wrong doesn't automatically make you right about everything else. It really feels like he's deliberately trying to throw the conversation off topic.
It's amazing people keep falling for this kind of thing.

I'm not sure if he quoted something specific, but unfortunately I do recognize the attitude he describes. In fact just this week I got a rather similar response in the #archlinux IRC channel (though they don't appear to have any public logs).
As for sources, a google for "you should not be using linux" turns up some of it.
