I don't like the program, I think it is garbage. Like most opinions it is an opinion.

It is one thing to not like a program, but calling garbage is exaggerated and ridiculous. Also, look at the time the blog you linked was posted and compare to the updated Gimp 2.8 which was released last year in addition ofs Gimp 2.9, with 32 bit per channel enabled and ported to new engine.

Still 2 point something developers. It isn't about particular features it is about how the product is falling behind that of a commercial rival because there isn't any interest from the open source community.
