General Development "Android Studio is a new Android development environment based on IntelliJ IDEA. Similar to Eclipse with the ADT Plugin, Android Studio provides integrated Android developer tools for development and debugging." Lots of ooh's and aah's from the developer crowd as this one was demoed.

The problem with UIKit and AppKit was that they were designed to be used with Objective-C. They don't translate to other language interfaces well, because of the unique way Objective-C declares methods and links views/controls to actions/outlets in the controller's code.
