Linux I volunteer as tech support for a small organization. For years we relied on Ubuntu on our desktops, but the users didn't like it when Ubuntu switched to the Unity interface. This article tells about our search for a replacement and why we decided on Xfce running atop Linux Mint.

I agree. The author didn't like some of the Ubuntu changes, but he's going to inherit them anyway now that he's using Mint. He's probably going to find out in a few years that he should have picked Debian or some other distro.

Mint has a Debian-repo-based version, which means you can avoid all the Ubuntu cruft if you really want.
