Linux I volunteer as tech support for a small organization. For years we relied on Ubuntu on our desktops, but the users didn't like it when Ubuntu switched to the Unity interface. This article tells about our search for a replacement and why we decided on Xfce running atop Linux Mint.

No it isn't as common as you think it is


My assertion is that it's more common than YOU think. I don't know the numbers, but your guess is obviously too low because it seems you have trouble acknowledging that driver problems can easily be avoided in Windows with preinstallation and recovery partitions that come with computers these days.
