Linux "Simplifying software installation is a popular pastime for Linux developers. It has given us useful tools like Synaptic, YUM, checkinstall, and autopackage. A new kid on the block, Klik, approaches the problem differently, by avoiding the installation altogether."

It has its use cases, just like the base system's package system.

It is great for
- applications you only need for short period of time

- applications you always want the latest and greatest version of

- applications you want to testdrive

You'll get fast and easy access to applications without depending on your distributor and you also have less security implications than using klik for long term software
