Apple The company expressed concern that to the extent its minority market share has caused software developers to question Apple's prospects in the PC space, developers could be less inclined to develop software for Apple products, and instead feel more inclined to devote their resources to developing software for the larger Windows market or growing Linux market. When it comes to games i would mention cedega....But oh man did that application go to crap.

Mabey the linux platform as a whole may be commercial software. I dont know. I do know however that it is hard to blame it on the linux distro hell. Distros dont vary that much where applications cannot be easily ported between them. If that was the case, then we wouldnt have a distro hell. Distros vary for package management/default setup/ and init scripts. There isnt much more difference between them.
