Apple "The Power Mac G5 Quad is, simply, the most powerful Mac workstation to date. Offering four 64-bit 2.5 GHz processors (in a dual dual-core configuration), this top of the line system also sports numerous other improvements in architecture and various components, such as dual independent gigabit Ethernet interfaces, PCI Express and support for the workstation-class Nvidia Quadro FX 4500 512 MB graphics card."

This is the only Mac I would ever get if I ever got a Mac.

That's a bit like saying "If I ever buy a car it'll be a ferrari", hopping in your go-cart and peddling away. Sounds tough, looks a bit stupid.

It is because I am in the market for a DCC machine. And so far I have seen only 2 machines worth spending a lot of money on. One is a handbuilt 2 x Opteron 280 setup and the other is an Apple quad Mac setup. The only thing that is nagging me is the lack of SLI support and the FX Quadros from Nvidia can handle SLI and I will need all the horsepower I can get for being as futureproof as is possible. The Mac is nowhere near a Ferrari. I have used other Macs before namely a dual 2 ghz machine which I liked and a 17 inch Powerbook which I hated. It was absolutely slow at Final Cut Pro usage. That is why I said if I ever get a Mac it would be this one because lets face it a Mac is never known for being very very fast if it is based on a G4. Now that these G5 dual cores are out looks like I have more choices available to me.

Well to my mind this one is, maybe to you it's closer to a Porsche ? ;-) Quad core seems pretty high end to me, but maybe I'm behind the times again.

Anyway you've peaked my interest now, what the hell do you use a beast like that for, from your explanation I gather it's some kind of graphics/rendering work ?
