Hardware, Embedded Systems It's official: Dell doesn't have an exclusive deal with Intel, and has an open mind on using AMD processors in its products. So said company chairman Michael Dell last week when cornered by a Reuters reporter at the World Economic Forum event in Davos, Switzerland. "Sure," he said when asked if the company might offer Opteron and/or Athlon-based machines. "We do not have an exclusive relationship with Intel."

If they aren't Intel exclusive then where have they been for the last 12 months on Opteron? Sun is more competitive these days!
When I see it happen I'll believe Michael Dell. Until then I have to believe he's got a good reason to stay away from the most competitive server chip on the market.

Yes, if they claim to not be Intel exclusive, but don't have Opteron products by now their comments can be given very little credibility.
