I have tried getting Xgl-Compiz working on Ubuntu and Suse. Both work really well but getting it work on Suse was just the matter of downloading few Rpms from (http://en.opensuse.org/Using_Xgl_on_SUSE_Linux).
There is a good howto in Suse forum (http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/).
It is very stable with Nvidia.
