Submitted by FreeBSD is getting support for USB 3.0. “Commit initial version of new XHCI driver which was written from scratch. This driver adds support for USB3.0 devices. The XHCI interface is also backwards compatible to USB2.0 and USB1.0 and will eventually replace the OHCI/UHCI and EHCI drivers.”
I always get excited to see advancement in the BSDs.

I guess this means PC-BSD will inherit the new feature in short order. I might have to get off my bum and try one of these BSDs out.
Gotta love this “written from scratch” quote which keep coming up in opensource projects. Another rookie want to get a name for himself.
Based on the other projects this guy seems to have worked, http://www.selasky.org/hans_petter/index.html, he doesn’t look like a rookie to me…
Hans is responsible for the current new USB stack in FreeBSD and for some other projects like cuse4bsd etc. Most people just don’t think before opening their mouth.

I guess it is more an issue of licensing, which, from my experience, happens to get more attention and respect in the FLOSS community.
XHCI to enter Haiku and maybe illumos except bsds. Nice work.
