… of all the expose clones, this one seems to run the smoothest (that I have tested) – although its still not the same as expose’

it seems rather flaky with certain windows. I had more than one firefox window open and the F9 function only showed one of them, the other one was not visible but I guess it was supposed to be there because the grey band identifying it was present. Also, maximized windows didn’t show up either.
I use KDE’s Kompose on my laptop for Expose-like functionality…works pretty darn good with my Radeon.

Has anyone found good Exposé clones that aren’t tied to M$ Windoes, or KDE, or Gnome? Skippy and Skippy-XD ( http://thegraveyard.org/skippy.php ) don’t cut it yet.

An Expose clone that’s priced reasonably and works quite well. Probably going to purchase this one.
Surprisingly good, although ‘live update’ updates the windows sometimes with full black content and OO 2.0 beta window content is always black. Could be just radeon stuff, but I doubt it. Anyone else notice this prob?
Seems to work pretty well … kinda slow with some windows, but not horrible.
Might be worth getting, since Longshot won’t be out for many moons …

Yeah, too bad zoomable human interfaces have existed long before apple introduced Expose… Another “invention” by Apple (NOT).
For $9.99 not bad really. Just bought it, and I customized it exactly the way I want –
top-right-corner -> tile-all
bottom-left-corner -> hide-all
And works great so far, and has live updates. Also the “expose” can be easily enabled/disabled from the Tray-icon (there is a slight bug here – that the tray-icon kind of “disaappears” – it’s there – but the image is not, It might be problem with the ObjectDesktopPro I’m using).
Other than that… scary patent stuff, but expose feels like some kind of innovation – it’s not that obvious as the one-button-amazon-click thingie.
But who else but Apple actaully got them usuable, past the phase of “Hydrogen powered car” and “Fuel Cell laptop”.

It’s a feature I use every day, it works like a charm and it’s what every system feature should be like: there when you want it.
Maybe somebody found it earlier, but Apple makes this kind of thing just plain sexy, there’s no other way to say it.
I’m actually looking forward to see the features, and they will be there, in Longhorn that are not in OS X. By the time Longhorn is about to be released I expect Apple to be working on new stuff too so we’re in for some interesting times whatever system we happen to prefer.

Yes, you have some functionality. Sadly no, it doesn’t hold a candle to Expose. It’s nowhere near that level of sexy.
You need to go to the taskbar, major drag. The way Apple implemented it is really good, the function keys are made for stuff like this. I’d like to see how this Windows version handles opening 50 windows. On my machine, that will take longer than instantly, but it won’t take too long and it still looks good. Does this version do that too?

Apple just repackages existing ideas with some added eye candy. I’m not saying that Expose or Dashboard aren’t useful, or cool tools… just realize where they come from before you claim Apple the original Einstein.
I was not aware that Expose was a rip off. What was it called previously? Can you please provide a link to that add on?

apple may not come up with the ideas, but they tend to be the only people in the industry to actually implement something new. its not as bad as it was back in the 90s, but to this day its like the only steps forward in HCI need a successful apple implementation before anyone else even considers it.

…to hide/show desktop??? You aren’t just hiding things, you can actually select them, and do other things with the miniaturized windows… it is supposed to help you FIND other apps if your screen is crowded, not HIDE ALL OF THEM!
@mattb, Yes, very true! The widget idea has been around (and implemented) for a long time, by various developers.
But I have to say I have not seen something like expose before… similar, maybe, but not as visual and useful.

Agreed, and commercial kudos to them, but they shouldn’t be given a patent for it, as Joes Momma‘s link to the pdf shows.
