AROS, the open source Amiga OS-compatible operating system, now has images available for the Raspberry Pi 3 (although some people state it also works on the Pi 4), in both 32bit and 64bit versions. According to the AROS team, they are quite stable, but not yet complete, so do know what you’re getting into. Dan Wood posted a YouTube video about these new images, providing much more insight into how well they work if you want more insight into how well they work.
The images are, of course, the basic AROS operating system, so expect a rather barebones experience. If you’re used to some of the AROS distributions for x86, which come loaded with software and customisations, these images will feel quite bare to you. It’s going to take some time to port over all of these applications and customisations to the ARM version of AROS, but if and once that happens, I expect more complete images to appear as well.
Great news for AROS and the Amiga community in general.

Well.. hardly. There were 24 commits TODAY into Master alone. 13 with AI assisted code over a period of months as AiCoAuthor doesnt sound like “AI slop” to me. Also, it depends completely on what the AI commits carried out. Feature implementation is one thing, but using Claude for specific, controlled tasks can be completely legitimate. It could also be an experiment by a dev. What I’m getting at is context is everything.

Yes, yes, yes! I finally have a use for my Raspberry Pi 3. As a bit of context, the Raspberry Pi 3 has too little memory to run a real desktop (I don’t care how lean your distro of choice is, a modern browser does not fit in 1GB of RAM with even a few tabs open, not even with unlock origin), too un-integrated to run Android TV or Android (my MeCool KT1 and my ODROID boards respectively are my tool of choice for that), so my Raspberry Pi 3 just sits there with an old installation of Raspbian on its 128GB MicroSD, unused. Now it will be used.
Note: I bought a passively cooled PC from Hystou from my desktop needs, it has an Intel laptop CPU.
