The Qwt library contains GUI Components and utility classes which are primarily useful for programs with a technical background. Beside a 2D plot widget it provides scales, sliders, thermometers, wheels and knobs to control or display values, arrays, or ranges of type double. In the meantime, Trolltech released Qtopia 1.6 beta, A complete mobile computing platform.
what is the deal?
Wow. Cooooooooool!
Wheels and knobs, didn’t we already learn this was a bad idea? http://www.iarchitect.com/qtime.htm
these wheels and knobs are for specialized applications, not everyday uses like Quicktime
That doesn’t mean they’re any better of an idea. The primary problem with knobs in software is that they don’t usually work well with a mouse + keyboard interface.
Sure it does. Who’s to say that the control interface is a mouse+keyboard anyway? Ever checked an engineering plant lately?
Many engineering programs alow for such things, Matlab/simulink does, and i think Labview. There nice for doing mockup testing of code. You can build a nice virtual interface of what might be used in the actual system and test with the hardware out of the loop and then phase it in. These things are just plain better at times for this then normal mouse-click ontrols. the applications for these are not directly ment for regular consumer apps, though i suppose you could use them.
