Trolltech has updated and renamed its graphics toolkit and development kit for embedded Linux devices. “Qtopia Core” is based on a Linux port of the company’s Qt 4.0 development framework, and replaces its earlier Qt/Embedded product. It targets “single-application products” built on embedded Linux.

Damn! If I’d have patented “Core” I’d be rich by now![;)](https://www.osnews.com/images/emo/sad.gif)
is Core the new “innovate” which replaced the bubble’s “synergy”?
Yes! Play with us: http://www.bullshitbingo.net/cards/bullshit/ π
Maybe everyone should just jump on the bandwagon… then at least we have a breadth-wise label across this mini-techno generation. How ’bout “vista core” and…
dare I say it? the new macs could be…
“Apple core”

It’s called a trademark, not a patent. You can’t patent a name. The USPTO may be filled with idiots, but I don’t think they’re quite that incompetent yet π
KDE has kde-core-devel since years already π
I like it.
I’ve seen QT/Embedded in action on a ~133 MHz-or-so colour PDA with a decent-resolution screen running on embedded Linux, and the performance is truly impressive considering the hardware it’s running on.
I’d like to see GTK+ try to do the same. π

Yet Linux is still Poo, huh?![;)](https://www.osnews.com/images/emo/wink.gif)
huh, I was shocked to see him say something like that.
I mean, how can you be so disrespectful having a name claiming something like that. Couldn’t you choosen a more neutral name???

Read it again, the first part was fine by itself. But adding the last sentence I don’t think it was anything but a lame attempt to create a Qt vs GTK+ flamefest. Trolling as usuall.
As a desktop OS? You bet.
It has its uses in embedded environments, though. My two WRT54G’s run 3rd-party firmware that gives you full access to the Linux system underneath, and I quite like it.
Qtopia is frequently thought of as a PDA like interface for phones / pda devices. I think this will cause confusion to traditional embedded companies that look for application frameworks for their devices which do not fall anywhere near the definition of a pda.

Changed the name TrollTech, in-name joke “Troll”, and dated buzz word, “tech”, Unless of course it was set up by a load of trolls, I suppose..
