The startup ZenZui is introducing a zooming user interface to facilitate web browsing on mobile phones. The company is commercializing technology that it licensed from Microsoft, in particular the AppLens and LaunchTile interfaces developed by ZenZui’s founders while they were at Microsoft Research.
They are a bit late with their super-duper technology.
I’m really not quite sure what this new technology is. Maybe I’ve misunderstood the article but I read it as a web browser that you can zoom in and out of pages. Well if that is the case, then this technique has been around for years with the likes of Opera Mini and some Mozilla ports.
Am I completely missing the point, or is this article really a big deal about nothing?
i watched the video on the zenzui website, and i can definitely say that this is not a rip-off of anything i have seen before (save maybe the iphone.) howecer, according to the website, this has been under development for 3 years, so it can’t be a rip-off. it’s actually pretty cool. you should check it out.
