Apple released Mac OS X 10.3.8. Key enhancements include: Improved OpenGL technology and updated ATI and NVIDIA graphics drivers; Enhanced file sharing and directory services for mixed Mac and PC networks; Improved compatibility for third party applications and devices.
The instant I updated from 10.3.7 to 10.3.8, iTunes and iChat both funked up big time. Errors. Wouldn’t open automatically. Safari wouldn’t load some pages without reloading, etc.
I went back to 10.3.7 and all is well again. Funny… this is the absolute FIRST point release I’ve EVER gotten that has affected me like this. It seems to be tied to networking somehow. Something about “MultiCast”, that NetGear routers (or at least our MR814 v2 specifically) don’t support or whatever.
Ditch that Netgear. I had one and it did the same thing with 10.3.8 and AOL for the Mac also. Put in my Linksys and all the problems are gone. Something they did to the networking in 10.3.8 wants Multicasting. Your netgear does not support Mulcasting. In the Linksys you can turn Multicasting on or off. When I turn it off I get the same problems that I had on the Netgear. Turn it back on all is fine including AOL 9.0 for OSX also.
