From the time at which Steve Jobs announced that Apple will be using Intel processors rather than PowerPC ones, every analyst, armchair CEO, and every anonymous forum poster with a two bit opinion suddenly became an ‘expert’ on the proper way to execute Apple’s plan. “jwdsail” submitted the following editorial to osOpinion/osViews, which offers an equally if not more accurate way to predict Apple’s future plans… by consulting his Magic 8-Ball.
I use the 8 ball widget on Tiger extensively and it has proven to be quite a valuable asset in guiding decisions.
I also throw in some common sense for good measure.
common sense is somthing that doesnt get its share of use in the IT field.
the magic 8 ball, on the other hand, gets overly used.
hun ????
with such a lame comment, by bother to respond?
Would you have preferred he refer to it as “every magnet site editor with a two-bit opinion?”
I thought it was amusing and made the point that a lot of people are saying a lot of things that they really have no actual knowledge of.
Dude, if people only talked about things they ACTUALLY had expert knowledge of, the world would be a mostly silent place with respect to human communication.
There would be more banter in the average monastery than outside the walls. Marketing as a profession would cease to exist.

Indeed, why bother to disturb our happy little realm with a post like that.
Have you read Medea, dude? Do you know what happens when you upset Greek women? I’m not traveling with you.
Dude, if people only talked about things they ACTUALLY had expert knowledge of, the world would be a mostly silent place with respect to human communication.
Sounds good to me Mind you, if everyone stopped talking crap about things they know nothing about, the world goes silent… what does that say about us?
Thought the article was quite a laugh. It’s been fun reading people’s comments over the last week, and how they’d run the show if they were managing the switch.
With Apple, you never know what they’re going to pull out of the bag. This article makes that point perfectly!
And quite entertaining.
I think the author hit it spot on.
Too much BS.

It would mean that we’d finally become wisest enough to realize that not only don’t we have to know about everything, but we don’t have to PRETEND either for the sake of keeping up appearances. Definitely there would much less wasted space on the internet by senseless blogs, armchair movie critics and wannabe political analysts. Wouldn’t that be refreshing?
…pointless
wonder why they call it common sense when it is so rare in some people. they should start calling it uncommon sense! ;-p
If and only if apple builds there own north bridges, as they have for years, can they keep the MAC a mac. If and in my opinion when they do, the PC market will beat a path to their door. Gone would be the 14 IRQ crap, gone with the USB, gone with the not so standard standard PC platfrom. The one thing missing from the WinTel market is any type of stablizing force. Dell, HP, Gateway, M$, Intel, you name it haven’t been able to move the base hardware very far from the humble XT. Apple on the other hand has moved there hardware, sometimes kicking and screaming, to ever more advanced levels and even new microP’s. Once Apple does build their own N-bridges, and they are up to Apple’s previous quality, I belive that they will cause a major swing in the base systems sold by every major chipset manufacturer.
Just an opinion.
