The HIPerWall system, consisting of 50 flat-panel tiles, provides a total resolution of 200 million pixels (2x that of the 2nd best), bringing to life terabyte-sized data sets. Each panel, with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, is powered by a dual-processor 2.7GHz G5 node, with nVIDIA 6800 Ultra DDL graphics, that has access to an initial storage capacity of 10 terabytes.”

On a more reasonable scale, ten years ago I predicted that “soon” we would have a series of linked flat screen displays in the configuration of our work desk — i.e. three displays across by two vertically, or some mathematical variation of this. Being flat, they would be more manageable than a mega display oriented vertically — and whatever wiring or storage, etc. could easily be stored underneath. I still think it will happen, but maybe not for another 5 years.
The HIPerWall seems only within reach of Bill Gates.

Each Powermac node controls two screens (we can also see the powermacs in one of the picture). There are 50 screens so there are 25 powermacs controlling the Hiperwall. And by the way those screens are Apple 30-inch Cinema HD Displays!!!!
