Ubuntu 26.10 has landed.
Ubuntu 26.10 brings significant progress for security, and strengthens the platform with the full adoption of Rust-based coreutils, post-quantum-ready package signing, and expanded TPM-backed full-disk encryption support. Enterprise authentication gains deeper integration with Microsoft Entra ID, including password and multi-factor authentication. Linux kernel 7.3 extends support for the latest hardware, alongside new RISC-V desktop images and optimized amd64v3 installation images.

Of course, it comes with the latest version of GNOME, and the whole family of Ubuntu variants focusing on other desktops have also been updated. While I doubt many people here run Ubuntu, it’s still quite popular, and serves as the base for countless other distributions.

What do people “here” uses? I was curious with this statement. I use Ubuntu with xfce for work.
Ubuntu is very much my work standard for containers and cloud VM. I think its often forgotten that the Commercial need and reality is different from the hobby/home space. For example, I Need lts support for regulatory compliance.
But at home… meh, ill reinstall the flavour of the week.
As time of writing I have at home Unraid, PopOS, Fedora, PiOS and Windows. As well as a Mac… all tired together with some unifi.
Fedora for private uses. At work, for containers, we’re using images from a vendor fixing CVEs in days.
Yea, I only support Ubuntu at work for compliance reasons, and only with GNOME, because for some reason our Entra ID routine breaks when the screen locks with KDE (you get stuck waiting for MFA). We require official Intune support.
I personally find Ubuntu very bloated and, when it comes to Linux, Debian has been my go-to option for the last 12-13 years.
RHEL on work servers, Fedora – KDE Plasma when UI – on my personal hardware (pi, laptop, servers).
Linux Mint on friend’s and newcomer’s PC who wants to try Linux or just needs an OS for browser and office, and can’t/dont’ want to run Win11. The fact it’s an LTS reduce upgrades frequency and risks.
