It would be interesting to see if Fedora is considering using upstart also. 2006-12-09 9:07 am jimveta Cool! I wasn’t going to download the alphas, but now I think I am upon that news. One major turnoff for me in using Linspire/Freespire (and Xandros and Suse and others) was the loooong boot time compared to Windows, Solaris and smaller distros like Zen. Ubuntu 6.10 was very refreshing in this regard for a mainstream distro. 2006-12-09 11:17 pm deanlinkous I hate to add a comment to this attention lacking thread…but… My boot time is still like 1:46 seconds, it is better but not amazing IMO. 2006-12-09 2:41 am rahim123 Goodbye and good riddance, SysV init!! 2006-12-09 1:13 pm REMF openLinspire doesn’t appear to be generating a great deal of community interest, despite being listed on distrowatch and articled here, it has generated a grand total of three comments in the 24+ hours since the article was posted. 2006-12-10 12:32 am JPisini I can’t wait to play with this one. 2006-12-10 9:08 pm deanlinkous I am glad to see them finally start to do things a bit more “normal” lets hope it continues.
