From the Mac news site MacMinute: It appears as though Apple has removed all of the “Switch” commercials from its web site. When trying to view the ads, which used to be available here, you are redirected to Apple’s “Switching to Mac: Real Stories” page. In April, Apple removed the “Switch” tab graphic from the top of its web site navigation to make room for the “Music” tab, although all of the content remained at apple.com/switch. Several media outlets have recently claimed that the campaign was a failure, citing stagnant Apple market share numbers. Also, read our interview with a switcher here.
“If apps crash that’s one thing…but if an OS allows apps to bring down the entire system that’s something else altogether…”
Yes, if it is badly coded it can mess up the system….
or has anyone noticed that our favourite (read every second post) anonymous user’s conversations sound alot like Eliza?
I don’t like apple…
<why would you say that?>
I think the G5 sucks….
<why do you think the G5 sucks?>
etc.
FUD! FUD! FUD!
Oh and to the guy who said we should all be at the beach……..some of us are land locked ya know. Geez what nerve. We should all be at the bar drinking. Now that statement I’d agree with.
Why is it that everytime a mac story is published here on OSNEWS it turns into a Price flame war!! Also same old stuff too. Price comparisons, etc. Next things is someone is going to say “Im not gonna use a mac because they don’t have two button mice.”
Too often people try to show their intelligence and more often, show their ignorance!
If there is one reason Mac has lost so much marketshare — beyond price — it must be the lack of great software.
I don’t think there’s been one compelling “made for Mac” app in the past 5 years, perhaps longer.
The iApps aka “apps for dummies” are not going to change the world.
Final Cut Pro was Windows/Mac and Apple had Macromedia shit can the Windows version.
Nothing…
There is no apps for Macs that Windows does not have 200 superior “alternitaves” for. Those iApps are onyl essential to a computer, Dell gives you movie studio, dell studio, musicmatch, a Roxio CD creator. There hasnt really been anything good that’s “Made for a Mac” unless its priced over $500… Macs arent for personal use in MY OPINION (Not wanting to start an argument!) people arent going to switch to them for that. Macs these days arent even for pro use.
But heres 1 software title:
BOOM! (Its the “doom” game for Mac, hehe)
I realized that there is no reason to buy a Mac today.
There’s nothing that runs just on Mac that doesn’t have an equal or better alternative on Windows for the same or less money.
Even Microsoft Office on Windows is by far more complete not to mention 1/2 the price.
This is why Apple has lost all their marketshare.
And now Apple’s current anti-ISV strategy is going to finish sending them to the bottom of the sea.
Dont forget, thier high price, less upgrades, and less games. That’s REALLY hurting Apple. But you’re right, there is no reason to get a Mac. I dont even think I can respect Apple after those swich campaigns because how they said that “Since you own Windows, you’re stupid!” but in a different way. Microsoft owns a bigger (MUCH bigger) chunk of the market share becase they make better products. Period. If Windows crashes so much then people would get Linux (Which is better than the Mac) or maybe, if they had to, get a Mac. Mac can crash way more than Windows, as I said, if its a bad software code, it can mess your system up.
Matt and Kevin, why don’t you guys give it a rest?
If there is no reason to get a Mac, then can you tell me why there are so many reasons to talk about them all the time?
I guess most people here are just mad that they can’t have a Mac for close to nothing. It is probably the same with people wanting to buy an expensive car, house, or whatever. They can’t afford it and be jealous. If you don’t want to spend a little bit more then don’t. Why do you always have to come back and tell us about it?
Do you value an OS not riddled with bugs and security issues? If so than Windows would not be your first choice.
As far as Macs crashing more than Windows:
5% of Windows crashes more than twice a day!

PC Mag Service and Reliability Report:
Don’t tell me Apple does not consistantly score higher than anyone else. These scores are not just from Mac users saying that Apple computers are good it comes from PC users saying that their PC are not that good.

If $688 is too high for you then buy all means build a PC, no way in hell you will ever be able to afford a Mac or a Dell for that matter.
http://www.powermax.com/cgi-global/generate.cgi?i=PM_CN_EM
As far as software there have been no deficiencies for me with regards to software for the Mac other than RIPs.
If you want a BETTER computer or better computing experience IMHO then get a Mac. IF you want a bargain basement machine go to WalMart. but don’t be jealous or put down people who can afford better stuff its pointless and makes you look like an azz.
“If you want a BETTER computer or better computing experience IMHO then get a Mac. IF you want a bargain basement machine go to WalMart. but don’t be jealous or put down people who can afford better stuff its pointless and makes you look like an azz.”
Better expirience? There is no games, no software, no upgrades. If you want a good expirience, get a PC, even Linux will do.
Over 200 comments on a Mac article. This is pretty much the ordinary.
People tell you how much better Windows and Linux is but they won’t do it in Linux and Windows articles. They’ll do it in Mac articles!
Then here is what they do next, they tell you how Macs cost too much. The truth of the matter is a majority of the people saying this can’t even afford a $500 computer of ANY CPU architecture.
Then they say Mac hardware is junk yet can’t explain why Apple consistantly scores high in reliability surveys.
“I guess most people here are just mad that they can’t have a Mac for close to nothing. It is probably the same with people wanting to buy an expensive car, house, or whatever. [sarcasm] YEP! Im jealous! Im sooo jealous of you running your home depot software or rigging up your CPU with Battlefield 1942 and Star wars galaxies! YEP! [/sarcasm] even if I had a billion dollars I wouldnt get a Mac. There is no reason. You lose more with a Mac. Why would I be jealous? Why do you Mac people think you have the best OS?
“Then they say Mac hardware is junk yet can’t explain why Apple consistantly scores high in reliability surveys.”
No they dont lol! Apple just lies to make their PCs look better so people would switch. A pentium 4 (Or amd) is much faster than a Mac, period.
“There is no reason. You lose more with a Mac. Why would I be jealous? Why do you Mac people think you have the best OS?”
Then why do you come here and tell us this all the time? Are you bored?
BTW, I don’t have a Mac.
Yeah, kinda. Im on vacation. Oh and guy who had the message “Stupid” you can put PC hardware in a Mac case ya know
Spell check first, it makes you look like you are in grade school.
“Better expirience? There is no games, no software, no upgrades. If you want a good expirience, get a PC, even Linux will do.”

Why bother messing with this argument. You don’t know about Macs AT ALL and IT SHOWS. Don’t assume you know all about Macs just because you use Windows or Linux.
Maybe you can explain to me why you come here and tell us that people who buy Macs are stupid. I just don’t get it (and I am not a Mac user

“Maybe you can explain to me why you come here and tell us that people who buy Macs are stupid. I just don’t get it (and I am not a Mac user ”
Over priced, less apps, less games, less upgrades. PCs are better, or they wouldnt have 95% of the market dominence huh? (Apple has only 3%)
And what does that have to do with my question – the one you quoted and supposedly replied to?
Gotta point..
Do you want me to name 30 apps that Mac have NO alterintave for?
“Do you want me to name 30 apps that Mac have NO alterintave for?”
Nope. And that is beside the point.
AUT posted:
I just don’t get it
That much is obvious.
“That much is obvious.”
What a wonderful reply. I guess it is fashionable to quote out of context.
What’s the point?
“What’s the point?”
That’s what I was asking you. What’s the point of you coming in here telling us that using a Mac is pointless and stupid.
Because… People need to know the truth!
“Because… People need to know the truth!”
So you say. And why is that? I thought they already got the point since market share is so low – as you pointed out. Why worry about the few of them that are left?
The truth is out there… yeah… *sheesh*
Market share is a HUGE factor in computing business. The more share you have, the more products will be made for your product. The Mac has little share, meaning there is really no software and games, upgrades, etc.
the space hamster agrees.
once you’ve jerked off so much your fingerprints have worn off,
penetrated your pet cocker spanial so deeply that it died,
and have moved on from shoving large vegetables to small garden implements up your ass,
and you still can’t that thrill anymore…
You need to find some way to get off.
And apparently Matt has found it.
“Market share is a HUGE factor in computing business. The more share you have, the more products will be made for your product. The Mac has little share, meaning there is really no software and games, upgrades, etc.”
That should make you happy. Instead you come here and tell us that using a Mac is stupid.
?????
“Macs are stupid, they arent compatible with anything”
Macs cannot be stupid. Macs are computers.
They are as compatible with other stuff as Windows computers. BTW, you can run Linux on a Mac which makes them compatible to about 100% of all other Linux machines.
“?????”
I guess you didn’t get it, eh?
“Macs cannot be stupid. Macs are computers. ”
Did you actually take this literally?
“They are as compatible with other stuff as Windows computers. BTW, you can run Linux on a Mac which makes them compatible to about 100% of all other Linux machines.”
Yes, but Windows is (Sadly) somewhat better than Linux, and even if I wanted to run linux why would I wanna spend $2500 on a mac?
Matt,
I’ve been exchanging data between Mac’s, PC’s, Unix Boxes, and main frames for 12 years. When people complain about compatibility, I’ve usually found that they have only worked on one software/hardware platform.
“I’ve been exchanging data between Mac’s, PC’s, Unix Boxes, and main frames for 12 years. When people complain about compatibility, I’ve usually found that they have only worked on one software/hardware platform. ”
yeh the PCs
“Yes, but Windows is (Sadly) somewhat better than Linux, and even if I wanted to run linux why would I wanna spend $2500 on a mac?”
Dunno. However, it doesn’t negate the fact that they are compatible. Even MacOS X is compatible with a lot of Unix programs.
Matt and AUT I suggest you stop replying like that and so frequest for no good reason, or I will delete ALL your comments and ban you.
Make this comment section a nice place to talk, not to troll and filled it up with your posts only.
“Dunno. However, it doesn’t negate the fact that they are compatible. Even MacOS X is compatible with a lot of Unix programs.”
Sadly I dont know much about Unix programs (Not Unix itself) name some apps plz!
If you want to make this commenting system like “chatting”, go to ICQ and talk it between you two. Don’t fill up our commenting system with your 1-liner useless comments.
thanks for making my point
“Matt and AUT I suggest you stop replying like that and so frequest for no good reason, or I will delete ALL your comments and ban you.”
I knew that this fun exchange wouldn’t last too long. Sorry, after reading all these anti-Mac posts lately (what do you mean lately – it has been like this for ages) I got just sucked into it
“Make this comment section a nice place to talk, not to troll and filled it up with your posts only.”
I guess it is too late for that. Has been for a looong time. People are just too bored on Friday evenings (or any other time of the week it seems).
Wow, this whole thread is freaking hilarious!!! I can’t believe you PC people care so much!!!! I love it!! Gimme more of your nonsensical arguments! Man, this is good stuff.
*wipes eyes*
Whew! The truth is, I love my Mac. I love it. I love the fact that, while sure it doesn’t have all the PC games out there, it has most that I like: Civ III, Black & White, Quake, UT2003, Everquest, Jedi Knight 2, Max Payne, Medal of Honor, Neverwinter Nights, RTCW, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Tony Hawk, Warcraft etc. etc. And, it has most commerical stuff like Quicken, Quickbooks, MS Office, etc.
The fact is, for me, Macs are fun. I love the OS. I love the hardware. And you PC people can complain all you want, but people have been saying Apple is dead for years and it hasn’t happened yet. And things are only getting better, now.
Cheers!
The point is Matt you are wrong on just about anything you say about Mac.
There are games for Mac, applications, and upgrades. You said that there were none and you counter back by putting PC examples as if I said there were no PC upgrades.
If you hate Apple and Mac what are you doing commenting on a Mac article when you know nothing about Macs?
Radeon 9800 is shipping for Mac in a retail box
G5 was never was at 400MHZ
< You what you pay for. I have a three year old PowerBook sitting right here, still in daily use. No Gateway or Dell can match that.
my dual celeron does just fine and is older than that. Maybe you should assume less, I trust you know what is said about those who do that too much. >
Actually I have a Dell Laptop thats a 366 Celeron that I use everyday and it hasnt died yet, 2 out of three of my G4s died, and my Ti has so many problems with Video and other things I havent bothered to turn it on. AppleCare cant seem to fix it, everytie I get it back 2 weeks later something messes up.
http://www.insanely-great.com/reviews/g4-400.html
Upgrades are available at 400mhz so no he is not wrong
http://hardware.realbuy.ws/B00006FMY9.html
Apple even has a G4 PowerBook at 400mhz G4
So is he wrong? or are you ?
< There are games for Mac, applications, and upgrades. You said that there were none and you counter back by putting PC examples as if I said there were no PC upgrades. >
There are not as many games, applications and hardware upgrades available for the Mac as for the PC, Application Support and hardware support are two of the leading incentives to buy any computer, pricing is the third reason, so in all cases Apple loses.
and we all wondered why Anonymous spent so much time correcting people…
along come Matt and inevitability (just to name two) to remind us how much ignorance there is out there….
Your a little late in the game Roberto. The original poster commented that he could only find G5 UPGRADES at 400MHZ. Read that again and tell me if it makes sense.
Here is the excerpt from the original post,
“Processor upgrades: I cant seem to find a G5 processor anywere except eBay…which only has one (And its a 400mhz upgrade)”
I am not wrong, there ARE NO G5s at 400MHZ yet he found one on eBay listed as a 400MHZ upgrade, yeah right.
The original poster also said that there were NO UPGRADES APPLICATIONS OR SOFTWARE available for Mac.
As for the price if you can’t afford $688 eMac you probably can’t afford a Dell either.
So we think that Mac’s are overpriced again. Why do people purchase BMW’s and Lexus and Acura’s? You can buy a less expensive vehicle, so why pay more ?
One drive and the answer is obvious. Apple needs is to continue letting more people experience a Mac and see the difference for themselves. Nobody can say that a Dell of any price looks like or works like the iMac 17″ widescreen I am writing this email on. This machine simply rocks!
The biggest problem APPLE faces is the notion that most people have that Mac’s dont work well with PC’s and they will be all alone with their Mac. This notion has been floated for so long now, it will take some work to reverse things, but it can and will be done.
Apple’s steady progress is surely going to have an impact on all computer users. With additional products coming along and superb software like iTunes and the Apple music store, the Mac is only going to grow-but it takes time.
If they only knew just how wonderful it is to come home to a Mac, the cash cow would be screaming mac, mac, mac, -or is that gateway?
I found the switch ads strange and directionless. I feel that the music (and many of the switchers they chose) gave the impression that they were making fun of the switchers. Frankly I don’t see how that was supposed to draw new users to the Apple brand and I really thought it insulted the current user base. Of course I don’t think Apple felt this way or they probably would have pulled the ads long ago; the ads just ran their course.
I’ve felt many of the Apple advertising spots missed the mark though. I think they could do so much more to show off their own value.
“Give me a computer that costs less and I will switch.”
Or…You can use your BRAIN and do a little research into how much more reliable a Mac machine is and that it will outlast the average PC three to one.
In other words…Instead of buying three or four $300.00 PCs over the next 5 -6 years, you can buy one Mac that will cost you less in overall over that same period. I have two Macs here that are going on 6 years old and they can both run Apple’s latest OS. Can you find a 6 year old PC that can run Windows XP ??
Mac users understand this and always have. PC users are so PAINFULLY slow on the uptake when it comes to in-depth thought processes.
Guess your brain gets lazy when you let others always do your thinking for you. ;o)
“In other words…Instead of buying three or four $300.00 PCs over the next 5 -6 years, you can buy one Mac that will cost you less in overall over that same period. I think this right here is the problem for Apple. Apple get their winnings from the hardware and when almost every user stand with an old mac and say “hey it’s works so why buy new” then you have a problem. Perhaps it’s true but that you CAN use an old mac but it sure is not the user experience that Apple tries to give you. This is why Apple has to gain money with every upgrade, .Mac is expensive and save on support.
For the record I use an old PII for windows 2000. I would say that that is the equal for your proposal. That is, it works just fine to take word out of Apple users mouths. It is slow during boot, no make that very slow, but after the system is done doing it’s grind then you can do excel, word, mail through out your day. That does not equal a new system. Why, because the platform has evolved so much that I will see and notice a difference.
It’s great that everyone feels so strongly about their favorite computer choices. But exchanging insults gets kinda old after about 200 posts.
I suppose it is inevitable that this thread in particular would inflame such passion. Because it’s about the “switch” ad campaign — and Apple’s angle in those ads was usually to show/imply that PCs running Windows were too hard to use or unreliable, and that buying a new Mac solved all that.
So I guess Apple started the insult hurling this time with the switch ads. But com’on guys and gals — OSNews would make much better reading with a little more common decency in these forum exchanges — and with more emphasis on exchanges of constructive, factual information.
“In other words…Instead of buying three or four $300.00 PCs over the next 5 -6 years”
Hey smart brain, what a novell idea. If I was still stuck with a machine from 5-6 yeras ago, I would still run on a 586 with 133 Mhz. I think the uptake-abilities of PC-users are not that bad, after all… they can have 30x faster machines today. Poor Maccies, oh well…

Ahh…but the post that you are responding to mentions that they are using the latest version of Mac OS…Mac OS X. Win2K is not the latest. Let’s see you throw WinXP Pro on their and see how things go.
By the way…I used to run Win2K on a virtually identical machine to what you are describing, yes, it was slow as hell booting, the OS was fine until you tried to run an app that is actually useful. Then things come to a near stand-still. That problem will be worse when you throw XP on there along with all your apps.

But they are not slow. We have Macs that are older then the latest P4’s at work…you know what…the 400 Mhz powerbook we have actually runs faster and performs better than the 2.5 Ghz P4 that is on my desk.
Do you actually grasp the differences in CISC vs RISC?
Mhz means nothing.

Of course you can with a processor upgrade card. Try taking out the upgrade card and running OS X, OS X is slow as hell on a 1st Gen G3, or you may have one of those hacks that allows you to install OS X on the older macs by tricking the OS into thinking you are on a G4

All in Ones suck because, you cant upgrade em and in a year you have to buy a new one. The only All in One I ever have liked is the Gateway Profile, I have one and its a pretty solid machine. I dont like Macs because I dont like proprietary vendors, if Apple pisses me off, to bad Im stuck with Apple, HP pisses me off, I go to Dell, Gateway, IBM I have choices and if I change from Dell to IBM, I can take my Apps with me without spending anymore money, try moving from a Mac to a PC, more expensive switch, try switching from PC to a Mac equally as expensive, and dont tell me. ” Well we have VPC” because VPC is not all that great if you have to run Intensive programs VPC chokes, I have had more luck running Windows programs on VMWare than on VPC at any kind of decent speed.

Thats where our opinions differ because I find the Mac to be a lousy computing experience, Im happy with a PC. it works, the life of a PC is much better than a Macs. Hey, Im happy. Jealous of a Mac user? No, I think you people are a religous/zealot cult. Whenever someone says something bad about a PC, we suck it up, we go along with our lives. Let someone put down the Mac, or better yet let a company quit producing software for the Mac. OMG, its a flamewar. I have a friend that works for Adobe Systems, when they put out that PC preffered site, he told me they got over 6,000 flame letters from Apple users. You people on this forum and on others said you didnt care if Adobe cut Premiere support for the Mac, well some of you did. they got something in the area of 3,000 peices of hate mail from angry Apple users. When Apple cut shake and Logic support for Windows, you didnt hear half of what you saw in regard to the Mac announcements, We didnt have petitions to boycott Apple, we went and looked somewhere else, and found something better. oh by the way a little bit of advice. When you are trying to convince a company not to cut product support or to show displeasure, dont include profanity and degrade people in your letters, it goes over alot better. When you people quit being stupid over every little thing and actually act civil and dont go all Hail Mary when something doesnt go your way. You might be better liked. Because the way you are, I dont hate Apple or Apples products, just the users.
Anonymous, I agree with you completely. It is hard for me to understand how people can get so worked up over, of all things, advertising.
A 64bit computer that doesn’t yet have a consumer OS
I can buy XP Pro at any store that sells software. It runs all the same software as XP home. Its a consumer OS targeted towards professional users who need advanced networking and configuration.
It works just fine as a consumer OS and most people I know who run Windows XP run Pro and not home.
“The Macs I have Kernel panic about 3 to 4 times a day, so IMHO I see why Macs crash more than Windows. ”
Has it occurred to you that maybe you are doing something wrong? Your experience with MacOSX crashing is NOT normal. I admin MacOSX server despktops and MacOS9 systems at work and crashing is not an issue. Read the PC magazine survey, MacOSX according to its users crash the least compared to other OS. Also wit BG stating that 5% of all Windows systems crash more than 4 times a day that may be more than ALL the Mac users out there. Thats a lot of crashing!
” My TiBook has always had scores of problems from Video to hard drive to modem blowing out and Apple cant seem to fix it, evertime I get it back it works for a few days, then off it goes again. At one time Roberto I caught you saying that you had three Macs all of the same make and model and all of them crashed. Now you have a PowerBook and a DP G4.I find that hard to believe. You must be shelling out BIG money to Apple unless all of those machines are under AppleCare. I am a little suspect that you even own a Mac. Regardless it is obvious that you are doing something wrong that you are crashing out five Mac systems. We still use MacOS9 at work for the Designers and we don’t have problems.

If thats the case why the excessive need for PC users to put down everything Apple and Mac in Mac related articles.
Everytime there is a Mac related article its the same people over and over again spewing the same crap about how they can’t afford anything and Apple is crap and its not worth it. Look at this article at over 250 posts and most of them from PC users trolling and flaming with little to no discussion on the article itself. You say you don’t care about Apple yet you comment heavily on Apple and Mac products. Why?
IAll this BS about you cheapskates friggin pricing this and that.
What a lame threwad.
Friggin walmart shoppers you are!

Wrong.
I have a four year old Gateway sitting right here, still in daily use.

Both mac users and pc users do this.
I am amazed that this guy has at least 5 Macs, all of which “kernal panic” 4 or 5 times a day, that constantly need to be sent back to Apple for repairs and he keeps buying more.
He then complains about belligerent Mac users during his anti-Apple tirades. Geez…
It’s possible to make perfectly good arguments why Macs aren’t for everyone, but I don’t see the need to sit around and make up crap that anyone who uses a Mac knows is not true.
If he does own a Mac (let alone 4 or 5), It’s probably a very old OSX unsupported machine. That would be the only way to explain the number of problems he has… (Mac not mental)
I’m not sure everyone appreciates what “Switch” was really meant to accomplish – only in part was it about actually getting people to change platforms to the Mac.
The real purpose behind the “Switch” campaign was to get members of the Windows-using public to visit Apple’s web site and visit their stores. If they bought a Mac while they were there, even better. But you’ll notice Apple was proud of the number of hits to their site and visitors to their stores that weren’t existing customers.
Yes, the ads were different, perhaps even annoying… and you didn’t forget them, the purpose of a good advertisement. Some could even identify with them. Apple was looking for sales, yes, but moreover they were looking for attention… and they got it.
Mindshare is a priceless asset to Apple, and one that has prevented them from falling past ‘the point of no return’ at least twice. If nothing else, “Switch” built mindshare, and helped Apple push their message that they are still around and still making products.
I believe that “Switch” will fully disappear when Apple believes it has its hardware and software pieces in place to make a real go of their business. And I believe that 2004 will be the year it will happen, hence “Switch” starting to be wound down; its served its’ purpose.
As for the 200-odd troll/flamebait posts in here… why are they here? Why are they not in the “OS Wars” forum? Bash and/or defend Apple and the Macintosh as much as you like in there, since that kind of discussion is on-topic there, and let on-topic comments prevail in the comments area for the news articles. And never wish Apple or the Macintosh to go away; I happen to like using my Macintosh and I don’t need you trying to take that choice away from me.
<Thats where our opinions differ because I find the Mac to be a lousy computing experience, Im happy with a PC. it works, the life of a PC is much better than a Macs. Hey, Im happy. Jealous of a Mac user? No, I think you people are a religous/zealot cult. Whenever someone says something bad about a PC, we suck it up, we go along with our lives.>
Really…. I find that hard to believe after seeing so many of your posts putting down mac and praising PCs.
<Let someone put down the Mac, or better yet let a company quit producing software for the Mac. When Apple cut shake and Logic support for Windows, you didnt hear half of what you saw in regard to the Mac announcements, We didnt have petitions to boycott Apple, we went and looked somewhere else, and found something better. oh by the way a little bit of advice.?
What you don’t seem to realize is that often times it is microsofts monopoly and predatory practices that leads to companies pulling software suppor for microsofts competitors. People have a damn good reason to be pissed off about that.
You claim that you would switch to DELL, IBM or HP if px company X pisses you off. Where would you switch if Microsoft pisses you off?
The only reason 95% of the PCs are wintel is not becuase they are the best but becuase most people don’t know alternatives exist.
That’s where apples switch campaign come in. To show people that microsoft windows want the the end all. Most people buying PCs don’t even know what cpu they run, the care about the software. And all they know is windows , ie and office.
Sorry, poor spelling.
I admin a MacOSX Server and take care of MacOS9 and X desktop systems on top of prepress stuff.
< Really…. I find that hard to believe after seeing so many of your posts putting down mac and praising PCs. >
I see so many posts of Mac users putting down PC’s and praising the Mac, does that mean that they are jealous of PC owners ?
< You claim that you would switch to DELL, IBM or HP if px company X pisses you off. Where would you switch if Microsoft pisses you off? >
Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris take your pick. All of them are just as functional as Windows. Also from what I understand, when I ordered my Microtel PC with SuSE, they are actually becoming pretty popular and the salesgirl told me that Wal Mart is actually considering putting the Lindows and SuSE machines in stores.

Thats a load of crap, go out to anyone in the street and ask them what Apple is, they know. They just dont want that alternative.
< I am amazed that this guy has at least 5 Macs, all of which “kernal panic” 4 or 5 times a day, that constantly need to be sent back to Apple for repairs and he keeps buying more. >
Actually, I didnt buy them. I stole them from my workplace when they were getting rid of the old equipment and we signed our deal with Dell. We quit supporting macs because we only had 2 clients that were still using Macs, so we cut em loose. They were spending more money on Mac services then we were actually making, the only machine I did pay for was the TiBook and I actually didnt pay for it, I traded him a SPARC machine for it. I have dropped OS X on most of them and I use Linux on em. I keep one for the new builds of OS X and I keep GNU Darwin on it as well.
< He then complains about belligerent Mac users during his anti-Apple tirades. Geez… >
You dont agree with me? Oh man thats it, people dont like me, Im going to go jump off the nearest bridge. And yeah, you guys are nuts. Cant find many people that would disagree with me on that.
< It’s possible to make perfectly good arguments why Macs aren’t for everyone, but I don’t see the need to sit around and make up crap that anyone who uses a Mac knows is not true. >
I did make good arguments why people dont use Macs, the only people that make up lies that we all know arent true are, 99.9% of Mac users and Apples switch ads. I can disect and point out untruths in most of em, yet you people continue to feed off what Steve shovels.
< If he does own a Mac (let alone 4 or 5), It’s probably a very old OSX unsupported machine. That would be the only way to explain the number of problems he has… (Mac not mental) >
They are all G4’s and to explain the number of problems I have are related to sucky craftsmanship.

Uh, yeah you go do that. Most people will know that Apple existed, but when I have asked most will be amazed that Apple still makes computers and they haven’t heard anything about Macs for years. That has just been my past experince, only 2/10 people did not respond in this mannor… I am amazed how you state you hate apple trolls, yet when you are a perfect example of a PC troll. So, before you flame me, like you do with anyone here that disagrees with your opinion note: I’m not an Apple user, not yet anyway, I’m not a Windows user either, I am a Linux user, and I personally believe that people should use what they like/prefer and stop taking opinions and forcing them as facts.

No not as ordinary non-techie users desktop OSes they aren’t. I work on the UNIX kernel everyday. I have used linux and even debugged the Linux kernel,Xfree86 drivers. Linux is not ready for the desktop. The reason I say this because try installing a new driver on linux. You need the right kernel for most of the third-party drivers to compile and work. Even if you do have the right kernel you still have to compile and edit conf files for the modules to load, this is a daunting task for non-techies. Compiling the kernel by going through menuconfig might be easy for you or me but not for my dad, mom, sister or Girlfriend. They just way to use their PC and to install a new driver click a few buttons and reboot.
<Thats a load of crap, go out to anyone in the street and ask them what Apple is, they know. They just dont want that alternative.>
Not really go ask how many have used a mac and why they haven’t?
Roberto if Macs suck why do you have so many and G4s on top of that?
And the craftsmanship is so bad that Apple is rated highly in a PC MAGAZINE reader survey.
You hate Macs so much that you own more than the average Mac user.
LOL, you are funnier than barrel full of monkeys!
