Was it just me, or did the whole thing seem to read like a big paid advertisement?
I doubt it. Advertisements usually have more punch.
After trying out their test server though it seems to be a lovely product. Fast, relatively good HTML. The featureset seemed pretty plain and I don’t see why I’d choose this over <a href=”http://www.phpgroupware.org/“>PHPgroupware.
PHPgroupware and NetWare seam to only overlap a little(The File Manager).
NetWare: An OS aimmed at combaining your multiOS network, sharing files, printers etc not only over your LAN but over the internet too.
PHPgroupware: a set of apps(intranet/groupware tool) to alow you to access basic ‘web tools’ as web apps(HTML pages) (A good idea, one I’ve done work this sort of thing myself (Not for PHPgroupware mind you, but getting <a href=”http://www.planetecodedcombat.com“>TELNET and VNC(no URL, still in planning) running over HTTP (bye bye evil firewalls))

NetWare is a file/print/directory server. PHPgroupware is totally unrelated. NetWare exists to let users share files on a common storage area, and share printers on a network, and to act as a platform for Intranet applications, and to secure and control access to your networked resources in an open standard way.
If you want to compare PHPgroupware to something offered by Novell, compare it to GroupWise. PHPgroupware is a toy next to GroupWise 6, which is built for mega performance, super stability, redundancy, hot failover, 24×7 reliability, etc etc.

BTW, I am of the opinion that NetWare has always, in every moment of the history of computing, blown away WindowsNT in any aspect. Marketing at Novell, however, has been a weak point, and MS has always, relentlessly and callously, engaged in dirty under-the-belt punches: http://www.whytheylie.com
