What is “WebSphere Studio Site Developer” ?

It is an IDE think Dreamweaver or Frontpage

Access manager is used with an LDAP system to control access to parts of systems.

WebSphere Developer Studio = Eclipse (eclipse.org) + some IBM tools.
Tivoli = System Backup Software (mostly for tape silio)
WebSphere Application Server = JBOSE/Tomcat + (BEA/WebObjects like tools library)
Lotus Domino Server = This is the Lotus Notes server, think MSFT Exchange with extentions; you can also get an Exchange layer that’ll make it an Exchange replacement (the Outlook user’s wont see the difference).
DB2 = SQL server; think Orical (I can’t speel it) not MSFT; It’s ANSI 98 compliant not ANSI 89 compliant like MSFT. Most open source and less expensive SQL servers are ANSI 92 compliant.
Those are very naive comparisons. WSAD is based on Eclipse, but there are no collections of free eclipse plugins that will give you the same product as WSAD. JBoss is great for a free app server and it continues to get better with age, but its clustering and scalablility pales when compared to WAS, same goes for DB2. As for Domino/Lotus, I hate the Lotus line of products so a bag of crap would be better as far as I’m concerned.
These are great free/semi-free alternatives mentioned and I would use them over the IBM offerings if I needed such things for my business, but for major corporations, many of them don’t have the muscle or support of the IBM offerings.
